"Inner Thoughts Whilst Standing on the Left hand"

"Inner Thoughts, whilst standing on the Left Hand" is one of a series of works based on the inner self in relation to the "outer self". In this series Iam exploring how we, as individuals, present ourselves, or appear to others, versus what we are thinking of or meditating on within. I am intrigued by this relationship, as I am well aware of how I am often misunderstood or misunderstand others in a world of judgemental and critical attitudes. The mind is quick to judge, or criticise, but what is the person thinking of when they perform an act which we consider not righteous or proper.

In this piece painted in reverse within the head, as viewed from the back, is a figure in prayer. So although the figure may appear unusual or distant, maybe lost, the inner thoughts are those of prayer. Actually, I feel that this piece best depicts myself when I am thoughtful in prayer, as the head has the stable foundation of the hand below. In my case teh hand is a vital symbol for my creative energy as it is depicted by what i produce with my hands.
